The Skills for Assessment workbooks aim to enhance critical thinking and reasoning skills through a series of writing and reading comprehension exercises, while building students' test-taking acuity.
Workbooks for grades 1–2 contain stories and comprehension activities designed to prepare students for future assessment tests and boost early reading success. With easy-to-follow instructions and imaginative exercises, students will tackle such skills as classifying, making judgments, visual discrimination, reading to recall details, and opposites.
The grades 3–8 workbooks are divided into three levels. Each
level of the grades 3–5 books includes a narrative passage,
an everyday text, a poetry/listening prompt, and two writing
exercises. Each level of the grades 6–8 workbooks contains
a persuasive passage, a narrative text, a revising and editing
section, and two writing exercises.
