Multiple-choice questions after each passage are similar to
questions found on state assessment tests. Some test literal
knowledge. Many require analytical, logical, or interpretive
analysis. Open-ended questions, which follow most passages,
provide an opportunity to practice composition skills.
In addition, many of the open-ended questions provide further
practice with reading comprehension skills and ask students
to display an understanding of the passage, as
required by assessment tests.
Teacher Editions provide suggestions for use, correct
answers to multiple-choice questions, and suggestions for
appropriate responses to open-ended questions.
